Tongue Control

Why even start? No one has and no one will tame the tongue. Like I said, why try.

This cannot be true. Too fatalistic. I need to read the whole context of where the verse is situated. That is what they teach you at bible school. So I read the whole chapter again. Oh no! I get the same results. It is impossible to tame the tongue. I quit. I will not try to tame my tongue(God says good). Maybe we have this dilemma because the tongue is just a symptom of the real problem.

Where do the words of our tongue come from?

“But the things that come out of a person’s mouth come from the heart, and these defile them.” Matthew 15:18

Maybe this is the answer. If we guard our heart our tongue will follow. For example if you have trouble saying hurtful things .You could say I will not speak anymore when I am around that person (until you can not hold it in any longer). Or you could train your heart to love your enemy and the tongue will be fine.
