Coulda, Woulda, Shoulda…
We all know that we cannot take back what we have said or done, yet sometimes we wish we could. Instead of dwelling on what could have or should have or would have been said or done, we are called to focus on and embrace God’s perfect law, that which gives us freedom. Once we do that we will start to “speak and act as those who are going to be judged by it.” Not only is there a blessing behind it, but the desire to act in accordance with God’s perfect law will and must grow. As Jesus tells us in John 13:17 “you know these things, now do them.” What are these things then? One good place to start would be by doing as Jesus did, who washed the feet of his disciples. Practicing the washing of feet to me means loving, ALL THE TIME, being merciful, compassionate and humble towards everyone. Yes, it’s hard. Yes, at times it’s inconvenient and Yes, I might not feel like it, but how can I let those thoughts get in the way of what Jesus wants me to do after He died for me and showed me mercy that I do not deserve. How can I sing “I’m so glad, you died for me, I’m so glad you shed your blood just for me” and then think I am good. Martin Luther said “ We owe reverence to everybody, even though we are equally free. Because freedom does not refer to ill-doings but solely to good deeds”. Christ set us free to love Him and to love others. We are especially free because true love makes you free. We are free to love and free to forgive. People don’t come into our lives at random, God puts them there for a reason. So if we look down on them or think ill of them we will most certainly miss the purpose of them being there.

knowing the good you should do, and not doing that … is sin too, right?
thanks, Kristiane!!!!!
blessings,

Kristiane:
Thanks for a great reminder that it is about love. Loving others like Christ loved us. Thanks, sis!
@ Alan, right! that is why I love the beautiful prayer of repentance found in the common book of prayer, where it says, “Father forgive us for the things we have done and for the things we have left UNDONE…”
@ T, you are a saint, thank you for your prayers!
Blessings to both of you, Kristiane
Thanks Kristiane for reminding me to love at all times and that everyone in and around me are there by no coincidence!! . The book of Romans chapter 12:9-16 says: Let love be without hypocrisy.Abhor what is evil. Cling to what is good. Be kindly affectionate to one another; not lagging in diligence, fervent in spirit, serving the Lord; rejoicing in hope, patient in tribulation, continuing steadfastly in prayer; distributing to the needs of the saints, givem to hospitality. Bless those who persecute you; bless and do not curse. Rejoice with those who rejoice, and weep with those who weep. Be of the same mind toward one another. Do not set your mind on high things, but associate with the humble. Do not be wise in your own opinion. Again thank you so much I needed this reminder today. God bless and btw I love your pic
