Small Opportunities
How often do we miss the small opportunities to make an impact on someone’s life and be a witness for Christ? I read James 1:24 and thought about how easy it is to focus on the larger and more visible opportunities to serve and witness like Missions Trips and FIA Sundays, but we forget who we are and what our true purpose here on earth is during the mundane and seemingly irrelevant parts of our daily lives.
When James says “goes away and immediately forgets what he looks like”, I think this could mean leaving an FIA event and missing an opportunity to invite a friend to Church. This could mean returning from a mission trip and not being aware of the needs of a co-worker. I was challenged by this passage to not forget who I am and why am I here. It’s easy to overlook our purpose at the ground level and forget who we are, only to remember and put into practice our faith on the bigger stage. James tells us not to forget who we are, and remember our purpose all the time.
Is there a small opportunity you have missed while waiting for a larger one?
Is there someone you have overlooked while rushing to get through your day?

blessings!
Great stuff Justin, this really is so true for me alot of the times. I think of the big stuff so often that I tend to forget the needs right in front of me and that God has me right where I am for a reason. Thanks for the kick… I mean reminder!!
