Real Religion

As I read this particular verse of James, I began to think of the events of the last couple of weeks here at Cumberland Community Church. Of the living examples of real religion, who demonstrated by their lives and actions, religion that passes muster before God.

Faith in Action recently, the number of lives of children and families, who where touched by those who gave of themselves with school supplies, backpacks, haircuts, but who more inportantly demonstrated the love of the Father, not for their glory but for His.

I think of Stacy Brungardt, who has reached out with the love and the heart of the Father, to touch the lives of single mothers and their children, who saw someone who cares for them. I saw it last Friday night at Music + A Conversation, with those that she brought and especially last Sunday morning, those that were baptized, how awesome was that?

And then there where the two young men on the video on Sunday morning, who shared, because Maria took an interest in their lives and shared the love of the Father, of the Lord, who went of a mission trip, that their lives have been changed forever and all you had to do was look into the eyes of these young men and you understood.

These are but a few stories of those at Cumberland who truly reflect the true meaning of real religion that passes muster with the Father.

May we all truly reflect in our lives the true meaning of real religion, that truly touches the lives of others, with the love of the Father and the Lord Jesus Christ.
