Blessings abound in Christ

Luke 1:9: “The brother in humble circumstances ought to take pride in his high position.” After stressing the importance of trials that will be brought upon you as a Christian, Luke is giving his audience an example of the kinds of things that will happen to you, as a Christian, if you follow what God is asking you to do for him. When we follow Christ, we are commanded to love others passionately and to give of ourselves. Naturally, you will be of “humble circumstances”. Not to say that everyone will necessarily be materially poor, but I think that Luke is saying that while the world greedily boasts of the things that they’ve acquired, the Christian ought to take pride in the fact that he is and will be gifted richly by God. The Christian always remembers that whatever he may have is only because God has given to him. In turn, the Christian gives and loves on others. This, to God, puts you in a high position.
