Sit and Listen!

Paul when he was speaking to the church of Ephesus he was telling them to sit down and listen to what God was telling them to do. However, the Ephesians did not want to listen just as we don’t want to listen when God speaks to us today. Sometimes God will put us in a place that we have no other choice than to listen to him. Well in 2010 that happen to me. I was going along with my life and thought I was doing well when all of a sudden God called me to a different place. We never know when God is going to use situation for his Glory and Praise but sometimes for us to hear Him talking to us we have to sit down and in our busy world of today that is hard to do and that was the case with me. God was calling out to me but in the busy life style I had created for myself I was not able to listen to God. Oh yes I was attending church, listening to the music, hearing the word of God preached but I was too busy to read my Bible through the week, I was too busy to offer help in area of ministry, I was just too busy so God had to slow me down. However, when God makes you sit and listen He also does wonderful works in your life. God brought into my life two wonderful girls while he had me sitting and because I was sitting and listening I could do God’s work and these two girls both accepted Christ into their lives. I often ask myself “what if God had not sat me down at this particular point or what if I was so bitter about being sat down that I missed this opportunity. I hope this challenges you to listen for God’s call in your life. David Platt in his book “The Radical” states “He intentionally puts His people in situations where they come face to face with their need for Him.” I was in that place in 2010. Platt continues to say that through this process God demonstrates His power which again He did in my life in 2010. My question for you is “Do you recognize when God is calling you out or do you wait for Him to sit you down before His power is demonstrated in your life?” Show the world that God’s power is demonstrated in your life everyday and don’t wait for God to sit you down because you might not like the place He puts you.

Shalom!
