Singing

Some days I just need God to sing to me. I need to hear His voice remind me who I am in Christ. Some days I need the lyrics of this song to be simple and to the point. Some days I feel like I need an entire opera with all the sweeping grandeur. Whatever the need (the real need and not just what I think I need) God responds to my heart when I listen for Him. Sometimes He responds when I’m trying to ignore Him. He loves me that much.

Songs are catching. If God sings to me and I listen and rehearse the song I’m going to be singing it too. I’ll sing it in my car, with the kids as we dance around the room. I’ll even find myself humming the tune as I fall asleep. Then it hits me: God sings, I sing, others hear.

So today I’m singing: “The Lord is my strength and my shield; my heart leans on him and I am helped. Therefore my heart greatly rejoices, and with my song will I praise him!” (Psalms 28:7)
