New Heaven, New Earth, Same God

Every day that passes brings us ever closer to the day when there will be a new heaven and earth and Jesus will return claim His Own.

This Sunday, May 22nd will mark another great day in the history of our church. We will be participating in a Faith in Action Prayer Walk, making our way to pray at Argyle Elementary, Campbell Middle and High Schools, and Osborne High School. This is an exciting and meaningful event for so many reasons. Here are a couple of them:

As God’s people, every day of our lives should be devoted to being passionate about Jesus and thankful for all of the great things He did for us at the Cross. We are called and commissioned to take our passion and use it as fuel to tell others about Him and work to bringing them in the Kingdom of God.

Next, prayer is one of the most powerful ways to serve others. Lifting up others’ needs before the Father demonstrates selflessness and compassion. Moreover, praying for others brings both the person praying and the person being prayed for before the Throne of Grace. The person being prayed for gets to experience God’s grace and mercy. The person praying gets the privilege of serving and of seeing burdens and yolks lifted from the person receiving prayer.

We may not see the fruits of praying for during the Prayer Walk, but as we believe in God and trust in the Power of Prayer, we know that great work will be done, and we know that God will receive the glory and honor from what we do in His name.

I hope that as many of you as possible will come out and join us next Sunday, and do your part to prepare for a new heaven and new earth.
