Has God Called You
Since signing up to be part of the Serious Leadership Class and after reading the first three chapters of David Platt’s “Radical” my perspective on what I’m suppose to be doing as a Christian has changed. I was brought on the Roman Roads and accepted Christ and followed with baptism as a profession of my faith.(Romans 10:9-10) . There was no follow-up discipleship training. I got more involved with the church ie: Sunday school teacher, bus outreach ministry, supporting missions and was later ordained as a deacon and was part of the deacon ministry for our church widows. I thought this was what being a Christian was about.
I realize now after reading David Platt’s Radical and from reading scripture that there is more that God wants me to do. I think deep down inside already knew this but didn’t want to admit it or get out of my comfort zone. As always God has a plan for us. God sent His Son to accomplish His purpose which he did when He took our sins to the Cross. Jesus gave his disciples and us a command to take the gospel to the ends of the earth.
Sure I have heard this repeated over the years as I attended church, but was never receptive to His calling. I realize now that the mission trip to Kenya was my first step in answering God’s calling as we ministered to the orphans and widows. Being involved in Serious Leadership and Discipleship Training and reading scripture has a greater impact on me and has given me the desire to want to know God more deeply than ever before. I now understand you can’t just sit in the background and let others do what you should be doing.
We each have different gifts, different skills, different passions and different callings from God that He will use for His purpose.Through all of this I have learned to be open to whereever God leads me or for whatever God has planned for me. My question to you is, Are you ready to give your all for the cause of Christ or are you going to sit back and let others do what you should be doing?
