What’s On Your To-Do List?
Live a life of love. Other translations say, “walk in love” and “learn a life of love”. If asked, I would imagine most Christians would say they are loving people. They would probably even say that they love sacrificially. But honestly, I don’t know that I live a life of love. That’s really hard! Oh, the big gestures are easy. They get recognition. They even make you feel really good for a period of time. But when there is an opportunity for a small gesture, it can be a little tougher. Loving by doing the small acts doesn’t seem as necessary sometimes. Sure, I’d give my life for my family. I’m sure you would as well. But will you stop working to let your little one sit in your lap for ten minutes? Would you turn off the TV or computer to give your wife some undivided attention? Or how about a chance to show some love for someone you don’t even like? Would you overlook a dispute with a neighbor or coworker (even though you are right), and help them out? This is living a life of love. It’s all encompassing. When I make out my to-do list for the day, walking in love is not usually on it. But it probably should be. Because that’s exactly what Jesus did. If He had a to-do list, this was the only thing on it.

Thanks for the great reminder to love in small ways! Will is always asking to sit in my lap and Jack is constantly asking me to watch him do something or look in a book…and I often say I’m too busy. But how many more years will they want my attention and ask for me to spend time with them? Not enough for me, I’m sure! Thanks again for the encouragement.
