Hey You! Snap Out Of It!

Do you ever daydream? I spent many hours staring out the window in Mr. Orrell’s U.S. History class. Come to think of it, I did the same thing in Mrs. Lamb’s English Comp class. At least until they called me out in front of the class. I was lucky to make it out of high school I guess. As a kid, did it take your mom more than once yelling your name to get your attention? Isn’t it amazing how we can tune out moms? Or better yet, how about finger snaps? When yelling just wasn’t appropriate, did your parents ever snap their fingers at you to get your attention? That’s what comes to mind for me when I read the last part of this verse. This call to “wake up” and “rise” seems to bring us back on track. When we digress or get off topic in our lives, the light makes everything visible. We get exposed. If I’m not paying attention, I tend to get sidetracked. A finger snap of some sort is usually just what I need. A nudge to make sure I’m giving my attention to what is important. Hopefully, we all have people in our lives that can provide the proper encouragement to do this; as well as being in the Word daily to guard against the rabbit trails we so easily get lost on. How do you keep from getting sidetracked?
