Good Words
Words are powerful. There are many wise directions given to us through God’s Word about words. According to scripture, words even hold the power of life and death!
I hear a lot about (and speak a lot about) watching what you say. I ask the Lord to keep the words of my mouth and the meditations of my heart acceptable in His sight. That is important to me. But I read today’s scripture and I am reminded to be mindful also of what I hear.
Have you ever been poorly effected by someone else’s words? Have you ever become discouraged or confused because of what comes from someone else’s mouth? Have you allowed yourself to become in a place that God wouldn’t want you to live in because you took in someone’s words without using your “What Does God Think Of This” filter?
Be on your guard against the effects of someone else’s words to you. If they are Godly, than shake them off like dust and pay them no mind, as such things deceive us and lean us towards living a life that is less than what The Lord has planned for us. –And that would be a tragedy.
Use good words and listen with good ears this week. It will make a difference.
Grace & peace,
Todd

From the old song
Angry words! O let them never,
From the tongue unbridled slip,
May the heart’s best impulse ever,
Check them ere they soil the lip.
Love is much too pure and holy,
Friendship is too sacred far,
For a moment’s reckless folly,
Thus to desolate and mar.
Angry words are lightly spoken,
Bitterest thoughts are rashly stirred,
Brightest links of life are broken,
By a single angry word.
Refrain
Love one another thus saith the Savior,
Children obey the Father’s blest command,
Love each other, love each other,
‘Tis the Father’s blest command.
