Opportunities
So here we are, living in this world, taking care of all the challenges that we face on a daily basis. It seems that so much of our energy is spent on things that have no impact on anything else except our daily survival (eating too much, paying a mortgage that seems like it has no end, making payments on a car that runs worse every day, putting gas in said car, insurance, insurance, insurance, your input here). The majority of our day is spent earning money, or trying to, to pay for all of these things. Another chunk is spent driving to and from the money earning place, and of course all of the restful sleep we get (about six hours in my case unless I have my mind on how to make our ends meet).
While we are so covered up with all of these things, God puts before us opportunities to impact his kingdom. It may be a person asking about our beliefs and we get the opportunity to tell them about Christ, someone in need who has no way to get by until God puts us in their life and we share some of the blessings we have received, providing a home for someone who needs one, sharing a meal, canceling church and spending the day making over a school or house in need, your input here).
With the little time and resources we have, God can take that and turn it into something so much more than we could do on our own, (see loaves and fishes). If we have the faith to step out and begin the process of kingdom impact, God will honor that and multiply it in a way that only he can.

It is “according to God’s power at work within us” that we can live and serve. The question I have from this verse is am I getting myself and my agenda out of the way so God and His power can work, We do have open doors and appointments given by God daily. I do get covered up by the things in the first paragraph and miss quite a few.
“A roof over my head, a good bed to sleep; food on my table and shoes on my feet…..”
If I’m not careful, I take credit for my survival when He is my provider. Thanks, Frank, for the reminder that while we work, He provides opportunities to impact His Kingdom. I pray that everyday I “will have eyes to see” His purposes as I go about my survival activities.
My workplace is my mission field. The grocery store is my “field white unto harvest.” I can show mercy and grace with my car, or something else. I can be like Jesus in this regard: He “went about doing good.”
Thanks, Frank. This is really impactful. And you and Megan stand out to me as a family who does an amazing job of kingdom impact and reaching out to others. Love you guys!
Thanks Frank I will be looking for places of OPPORTUNITY today.
Frank,
This is a great picture of us trying to do the Christian life without Christ indwelling. But when he is added to our lives we get more fishes (time, time to do all that is required and more). We have to provide the time to open up our hearts and be close to the one who saves us from ourself.
Note: When we are filled to overflowing, we will want to give of our self away more and more. This is a good indicator to me when I am allowing Christ to fill my life. But when the contrary is true I am finding myself very wanting and not very giving. We have to find time to except the gift of Christ daily so that we will be blessed so that we can bless. G2G2G We have to give our live over to Christ to be close to him. Being close to him will allow him to indwell in us (Shekhinah glory), him giving of himself to us. This will fill us to overflow and give the the world around us. And if we are not filled to overflowing then we need to continue to sit under his awesomeness until we are filled to overflowing.
Later,
Phillip
