Only God Can Save
Have you ever happened to see an old western from the 50’s? They are rather formulaic, with the good guy (always in a white hat) arriving on the scene in just the nick of time to save the damsel in distress. When it seems that all hope is gone, they show up at the last possible moment. Now, read Ephesians 2: 4-5. That “nick of time” moment has already passed. There will be no white hatted hero coming to save the day. We are already dead. Really bad ending, huh? It’s too late, right? NO! Look at two words in the passage: But God… That part blows me away. Yes, it’s too late… for anyone else. But God, because He loves us THAT much has made us alive in Christ. We were dead. That’s usually the end of the story in Hollywood. There’s no coming back from that. If you have gotten to that point in the story, the hero is just too late. But God doesn’t follow a Hollywood script. His love for us overcomes even death. Because of His love, mercy and grace we have been saved. And alive is so much better than dead.

Ben … you are a great, creative writer, and i love how you tied in a stereotypical Hollywood plot line with Biblical truth. Thanks for making great, practical sense out of Eph. 2:4-5. You’ve helped me and others to chew on scriptural depth throughout this day. Thanks. Alive is so much better…
blessings on ya head,

BUT GOD … that’s all we need to know today.
Thanks Ben!
God is so GREAT AND GOOD. Thanks Ben we’re alive in Christ, praise God!!!
You couldn’t have said truer words from scripture Ben. Now to reach others so they can receive God’s gift.
It is so great to be saved from our death, to feel true life. God is big enough to save us from a death that can not hold him and he will not let hold us. Amen. God is Good.
