He has a yes face!

I heard a story about President, Thomas Jefferson that goes something like this:
President Jefferson and a group of his companions were traveling across the country on horseback. The group of men came to a river that was swollen well past its banks. The rushing water had washed out the only bridge and so the men were forced to ford the swift waters on horseback. Each man took his turn fighting for his life as he struggled against the rapid currents. Because of the real possibility that death threatened each rider, which caused a traveler who was not part of President Jefferson’s group to step aside and watch. After most of the men had made a safe crossing, the stranger asked President Jefferson if he would ferry him across the river. The president agreed without any hesitation. The stranger climbed on the back of Mr. Jefferson’s horse, and in a short time they had safely crossed the river. As the stranger slid off the back of the President’s horse, one of Jefferson’s friends asked him, “Tell me why you selected the president to ask such a favor of?” The man was shocked, saying he had no idea that it was the president who had helped him. “All I know,” he said, “is that on some of your faces was written the answer “NO” and some of them was the answer “YES.” His was a “YES FACE!”

In our scripture from Ephesians today, the Apostle Paul is concluding his point that Jews and Gentiles are now part of one body in Christ Jesus. Paul teaches that through Jesus both share the same Spirit and have access to the Heavenly Father. This access to the Father is only through the finished work of Christ. We once were separated from God by floods of sin, and death threatened each of us. We are now reconciled to God, by faith, through what Christ did on the cross.

As in the story above, there was a river that we could never cross. Jesus crossed it for us and when we place our faith in Him; he carries us to safety.

Friend, no matter what; Jesus is waiting to carry you to safety. Look to Him; He has a “YES FACE!”
