For This Reason

Let me tell you of the faith of Pastor Ezekiel. He is a young man who just planted a church in Mathare Valley Slum of Nairobi. He grew up in the slum of 800,000 and found Jesus in the crowd. Through hunger and adverse conditions he was shaped to be the pastor of this new church. The greatest quality of this young man is his faith. Faith to live in poverty, faith to ask a girl to marry him and move into poverty, faith to believe that Mathare can come out of poverty one person at a time.

Walking with him in the slum people reach out to him and his love for the poorest of the poor is contagious. I found myself looking past the ragged clothes and smells to see beautiful God creations. This is how Pastor E sees them all. He has a love for all God’s people. An unconditional love and for this reason I do not stop praying for him.

Pastor Immanuel a church planter in Kibera slum. Grew up in the slum and came to the point of suicide to get relief until Jesus intercepted him. Like a flash of light he saw Jesus calling him and he reached out and followed Jesus. Today he and his small family live in Kibera by faith. They are among the poorest of the poor and are the poorest of the poor. When I talked to him last his baby had gone to bed hungry and crying. He had not eaten in a few days. He has a love for all God’s people. An unconditional love and for this reason I have not stopped praying for him.

For these reasons I ask you to join with me and pray for these two giants of the faith because you now have heard of their faith and the love they have for God’s people.
