Love them like Jesus
I’m writing this as my daughter and I are headed to Kenya with a group from Cumberland Community Church. As I read this passage it is a good reminder on why we are here in Kenya. We are excited about the opportunity to care for the widows and orphans and show them God’s love. We as Christians put God’s word into practice. Sometimes I get caught up in what this world has to offer; money, power, and pleasure. It could be very easy to allow these things to consume me. I have to remind myself that this will all pass away, but God’s word will remain forever. God’s word says that we are to give and that through giving of ourselves we will receive what we need from him. It is important to listen to what God’s word says, but it is much more important to obey it, and to do what it says. I am really excited and I feel truly blessed to be able to experience this trip with my daughter, who also has a heart to serve others.

Thank you for serving. Today’s verse is a great reminder to count all the things we have amoung our riches. Col 1:27 reminds me of my eternal riches. “To them God has chosen to make known among the Gentiles the glorious riches of this mystery, which is Christ in you, the hope of glory.”
I am thankful for your team going and bring Christ to those in Kenya. Thankyou
Don, thanks for accepting God’s call to serve in Kenya and to go with your daughter is so awesome! I look forward to hearing your stories upon you return of how God worked through you all and how you have joined Him where he is already at work. God bless.
