How big is your God? Can he calm your storm?
God has to test our faith if it is going to grow. I for one wish it didn’t have to work this way but it does. It seems as if He always wants us to depend on Him more. In one weekend our refrigerator went out, the power steering in the van went out, our other car is over heating that we just got back from the shop for a blown head gasket that was caused by overheating and I was laid off from my job where I had worked for the past 8 years. I was struggling before this happened and now what am I going to do? I have to remember that God gave us the van and the car – come to think of it, God has given us our last 7 cars at little to no cost. Wow, now that is the God I need to trust in, He is awesome, powerful and worthy of praise. The refrigerator was repaired, the van is back home, the over heating car is still in need of attention and the job issue still needs to be resolved. But am I to think that just because things are not as I would have intended that my God is in someway smaller? No, this is the time that I am to depend on Him even more. These problems are not Phillip sized problems these are God sized problems. My God is the God that created the heavens and the earth by speaking them into existence. I think my family is in capable hands. My God has saved me from encephalitis (the west Nile virus) and 7 concussions. He has created good things for me to do and has saved me to do them. I just have to be willing to do them no matter how it looks to the rest of the world. Even if we lose our house we will follow Him because that is what He tells us to do.

Phil, thank you for your words today. I love the verses you gave us to think and wonder about this day. When bad things happen is God there? Yes God is there. Your testimony is one more picture of that, making God real in our lives.
i really do appreciate your heart… in the middle of struggle. thanks for taking the faith and comfort God has given you, and passing it along to others. you do my heart good.
blessings,
alan
Phil, you do my heart good too. I just read through Romans 5 this morning, “rejoice in our sufferings = perseverence = character = hope. Hope does not disappoint ….”. You have His grace and your words today are “good works” in my heart. I love you.
Hi Philip,
I have had my ups and downs in life and really thought that my world was going to fall apart, but God has always brought me through these times even when I didn’t deserve it. There are so many things that the world has our attention with and we think they are important, but in actualality they aren’t. I have to ask God to be patient with me cause I tend to let worldly things getting in the way instead of focusing on what is really important and that is developing a closer spiritual relationship with Him and really depending on Him instead of trying to do things my way. I will keep you in prayer that you will find a job so that your needs will be met.
