Help! My Luggage is too heavy.
I have the privilege to go to Kenya with 16 other members of Cumberland Community Church. As I was preparing for the trip, I had to find luggage. I was blessed to find several bags on sale, however getting them out of the store and into my car then into my house was hard work. Three piece luggage set, keys and a handbag was a little tricky to climb steps with. I kept wondering how can anyone carry all this stuff and actual get where they are going? That is when I was reminded about emotional baggage and how it can cause us to be weary and drain the peace right out of us.
That emotional baggage we carry around only serves to weigh us down and take our joy. We are not guilty anymore, God has forgiven us so why do we have such a hard time forgiving ourselves? Could it be, that satan has tricked us into picking it back up from the foot of the cross? Satan knows if we carry around guilt, shame, past failures, what if’s and I should have’s that we are less effective in our work for the Lord. Have your ever been to the airport carrying several bags and you have to get your purse or wallet out to show your ID? Not an easy task, you have to stop and let go of the bags in order to move forward. It is the same in our christian lives, there is no condemnation for those who belong to Christ Jesus. When we surrender our baggage to Him, He heals us and lifts those burdens. We can be like the psalmist in Psalm 118 who experienced this: “In my anguish I cried to the Lord, and he answered by setting me free.” It is for freedom that Christ has set us free. Stand firm, then, and do not let yourselves be burdened again by a yoke of slavery. (Galatians 5:1)
The attached YouTube link is a great reminder of letting go of our baggage God’s way.

How wonderful! Thank you for sharing this; for sharing yourself with the people in Kenya. What a blessing. Today I am thankful for mercy and grace – I’m not guilty anymore.
Hebrews 12:1 – Therefore, since we are surrounded by such a great cloud of witnesses, let us throw off everything that hinders and the sin that so easily entangles. And let us run with perseverance the race marked out for us, 2 fixing our eyes on Jesus, the pioneer and perfecter of faith. For the joy set before him he endured the cross, scorning its shame, and sat down at the right hand of the throne of God. 3 Consider him who endured such opposition from sinners, so that you will not grow weary and lose heart.
Blessings in Kenya. I pray you are weightless.
I agree with Bill’s prayer. Praying you are wieghtless and full of Christ. Enjoy your last few days can’t wait to hear all about it.
