God Remains

I was in a popular fast food restaurant not too long ago with my wonderful wife. As we sat down, we both noticed that there was music playing over the speakers that was uncharacteristic for this particular restaurant, as they are usually playing Christian music. Not a big deal, I am sure. But then a conversation happened that made me ponder:

A well meaning customer service guy came by the table and asked us if everything was good with lunch. Trina said “Yes, it is all very good, but I have to ask: why did you guys get rid of the Christian music that you used to play”? It was not the question, but the reply that bothered me. “We just decided to get current with the times” was his response.

Current with the times? Since when is worship music (or Jesus for that matter) a trend to be followed or dropped?

I suppose in this day in age, it is easy to fall into the trap of constantly keeping on the move. Our world is traveling faster than ever. If we have a smart phone, the world is at our finger tips. It sometimes feels like if we blink than we miss something. But you know what doesn’t change? God. The maker of all that is around us always remains the same and He does not change like the shifting shadows like we do.

Think about it for a minute. While we live in seasons, God remains. Why we upgrade out technology, God remains. While we are caught up in a flurry of work/ relationships/ family/ friends/ events/ life…. God remains… the same.

Does my half of my relationship with God shift? Am I seasonal with my time/ energy/ love of God? May He never become a trend or good idea for the time. I am thankful that although I change, God remains the same.
