But God, I just want to beat Oprah!
As I was running a race this past weekend, God spoke to me about running my race; how I need to focus less on what any other person is doing or has done, but run my race, at my pace.
… let us run with perseverance the race marked out for us (Hebrews 12:1)
Too often we focus on what others do or have done; but God has a specific “race” for each of us, a course designed for no one else, and we must not allow things of this world to distract us – we will miss out on what God has called us to; which may result in not reaching the specific people that God has plotted on our course of life.
I did not beat Oprah’s time, she ran her race and I ran mine.

One of the hardest things to do as a body of Christ is not to be jealous of those around us who have been given different spiritual gifts. It is easy to watch Alan, or Joe, or Rob, or Megan or Chris, or any of the wonderful CCC staff do their thing, the thing God has gifted them for and say you want to be doing that. I agree with you Noemy that God has given each of us a different part to play a different race to run. The really cool thing is we get to run the race together. Encouraging oneanother to make it to the finish line. Run on sister.
amen… noemy and penny!
Thanks for the reminder. This is what I need to help get me focused today.
I love this! I’m about to run my first full marathon and all I’ve been worried about is beating Oprah. The Lord has laid it on my heart to run the race set before me and not to worry about anyone elses’ race. This is just more cofirmation for me to be concerned only about the race he has set before me both spiritually and physically.
