Are You Who You Want To Be?

Recently I’ve heard Alan comment during service how wonderful it is to hear pages turning as we feverishly search for the scripture reference. I’ve been using my bible app on my phone – cuz I’m a modern girl!

So, one evening I decided to pull out the Good Book and turn some pages. I found a note I wrote to myself many years ago, right after I decided to follow Jesus. It was a list of the woman I wanted to be. The woman I can humbly say I believe I have become.

Oftentimes we get bogged down with the worries of this world; bills, work, kids, (insert your distraction here). We forget that, even in those times that we are focusing on tasks, commitments, and the likes thereof, God keeps working.

And I am certain that God, who began the good work within you, will continue his work until it is finally finished on the day when Christ Jesus returns. – Philippians 1:6

Here I am, fifteen years later, living the life He birthed in my heart and was faithful to bring me to. All those years I thought I wasn’t moving forward, thought I wasn’t good enough, thought I was so far off course – yet there He was, still.

I have, of course, an entirely new set of goals. But what a blessing it was for me to find that list and humbly say, “Look what the Lord has done!”
