Worry or Worship?
Have you ever had one of those moments where you can just see God? See Him working around you? Experience Him in His awesome creation? Get a little glimpses of heaven here on earth? I love those moments! Sometimes I get to experience them daily, sometimes weeks go by without them. I’ve found that there is a direct link between experiencing God and the condition of my heart.
My son is a daily reminder to keep my life simple and my heart pure before God. I love watching him discover and be in awe of the world around him – throwing a ball high up in the air, finding a rock or a big leaf – he gets so excited over these! Children have an ability to see beauty and wonder in simple things. I believe this is how God wants us to be. That’s why Jesus made an example of them in Matthew 19:14, “Let the little children come to me, and do not hinder them, for the kingdom of heaven belongs to such as these.”
Something happens as we get older. The hurts and disappointments of life can set in and harden our hearts. The busyness, responsibilities, and worries of life can distract us from seeing God all around us. Prayer is essential to keeping our hearts purely devoted to God. God wants to take all of our junk, all of the clutter in our hearts (1 Peter 5:7), and give us pure hearts (1 John 1:9). But we have to choose this, He won’t do it against our will. David recognized his need for this a prayed for it in Psalm 51:10. We can do the same. Remember, He is faithful to forgive and purify our hearts. And what a joy to be able to live in constant wonder and worship of our Lord!
Father, thank you for the lessons you teach us through your Word and our precious little children. Remove our worries and disappointments as we confess them to you. Give us pure hearts that live in awe, wonder, and worship of You alone. amen.

Katie!
great stuff here. Our kids do have those pure hearts that so easily reflect God and life. I can get so choked by the worries and struggles of life. Thanks for starting my day with some good thoughts.
Blessings on your and your fam. Glad God has you at CCC.

Thanks for sharing with us, Katie! You and Peter are an essential part of Kids Ministry and we love having you on board!! I always appreciate being reminded to approach God with the simplicity of a child. Joy, Awe, Wonder….seem so foreign in our adult lives, yet our little ones share those emotions daily. Thank you for encouraging us to take a step back and revisit the purity found in children as we find ourselves in front of the Lord.
