Please join me in prayer…for CCC’s Children’s Ministry
Last week, in preparation for the church-wide 24/7 Prayer Week, the staff and elders started praying a week early. During one of my prayer times I left the auditorium and walked throughout the Playhouse area to pray for all our precious kids (8 weeks-5 years), their parents/families, the volunteers, Jen Overly…and all of the plans, needs, challenges, and wishes for the Children’s Ministry. It was a really rich time (and a bit spooky in the pitch black…not certain why I didn’t turn a light on, but I didn’t). Anyway, if you have a chance to do the same this week during 24/7, I’d highly recommend it…there’s something about praying in the physical space where specific ministry takes place that brings a greater level of focus to my prayers.
Regardless of if you walk and pray through the Playhouse this week or not, I ask you to pause right now to pray for Jen and her ministry…and whenever else the Spirit leads to this week. What’s going on back there during the service is not just baby-sitting…it’s caring for, challenging, teaching, growing, and loving CCC’s kids in a very intentional way. Not only that, knowing that their kids are safe, being loved, and taught about Jesus allows parents to hear more clearly what God may be trying to tell them in the service.
So with that, please join me in prayer…for CCC’s Children’s Ministry:
- Pray that the kids better understand these 3 truths after spending some time in the Playhouse:
God made me
God loves me
Jesus wants to be my friend - That the Word of God and its Truth takes root in the lives of the kids…all preparing them to one day give their lives to Christ in a real way
- That not only do the kids feel loved and learn more about Jesus, but their parents and families do too
- That the parents grow as the spiritual leaders of their homes…partnering with CCC, but not relying on CCC to do what they need to be doing at home
- Volunteers – more of them…and not just bodies, but people that have or find a passion for serving CCC’s kids and their families
- Continued direction and guidance for Jen and her team…
- Speaking of…as some of Jen’s “key” folks (that she’s had for years) move on with their kids, that the next wave of “key” folks step-up and fill these critical roles
- Upcoming events: Trunk or Treat (Oct. 31st…5:30-8:30pm); planning for KidsCamp/VBX 2011 starts next month!
- Pray for Jen personally: her walk with God; her energy, creativity, discernment, leadership; relationship with hubby (Bryan) and da’boyz (William and Russell); William’s and Russell’s relationship with each other; safety and good conversation with friends during her annual pilgrimage next week back to Circletown, OH for the Pumpkin Festival (don’t ask me!); and preparing for the Kenya Mission Trip…both practically and spiritually.
Again, we are so blessed to have a church that loves and cares for our children so intentionally. Regardless of if you are single, married, with kids, or no kids…please join me and the rest of your CCC family to pray for our Children’s Ministry. (By the way, if during your prayer time you feel led to serve with Jen and her team, call her right now at the church office (770-952-8834) or eMail her…you will be a big answer to prayer.)

Thanks for the great reminder! How blessed to have a hubby like you that always helps keep me focused on what i should be doing which always includes thinking and praying for things outside myself……like today with CCCs Children’s Ministry and Jen. Love you!
Amen, Amen, Amen, Amen, Amen, Amen, Amen, Amen and Amen –
That’s an “amen” for every bullet point. Although the Children’s Ministry is not my gift, I can and will pray for Jen the specific needs that you so thoughfully listed here. Thank you for the insight. You and Brittany are a joy to serve with!
yep… good reminder to pray for this vital ministry of CCC. Jen and her small army of adult volunteers do a great job. thanks, doug
Doug thank you for this! I read it right before my prayer time so, it was perfect timing.
