Work in progress
Since it’s so close to fall (yet still 90 degrees) and football season is upon us, I’ll start this off with a football-themed statement that goes directly against my inner Auburn Tiger:
I love Tim Tebow.
There, I said it. And it’s true. Say what you will about his skill, his hype from anything affiliated with ESPN, or his Friar Tuck haircut. The fact remains: Tim Tebow is unashamed and unflinching in living out what he believes. His messages through his eye black (Phil 4:13, etc.) while playing at UF were a source of both inspiration and controversy. And he has been very public about his ministries outside of football.
My prayers for the youth group of Cumberland have been along the same vein. Lizzy and I pray the Ephesians verse for the youth so that they would be equipped to be bold, strong, and unflinching in their faith in the midst of everything they are facing as teens and when they leave home; so that when given the chance, they will choose God over the world, standing out over following the crowd, and truth and love over religious rules and regulations; in essence, so that they would be prepared to follow Tim Tebow’s example.
I have seen examples of how God has answered this prayer over the past 5 years, and I can see Him moving through the young people of Cumberland as He stirs their hearts and minds. One example that comes to mind is Courtney Dodd, a former member of Fuel who is now in college and leading a girls Bible study on Thursday evenings at CCC. Other leaders are being raised up, and it is exciting to see what God is doing in and through this ministry.
Will you join us in praying this prayer for the youth of Cumberland? Pray that they will know God better so that they can make Him known.

Kyle
I just read Christi’s FOA, and then yours, and am so thankful for your role in CCC’s youth ministry. The kids adore and respect you and Lizzie, and I know one kid who LOVES leading worship with you, and has benefited loads from your leadership.
Thank you for the time and effort you invest in our future leaders.
And what’s an Auburn Tiger got to do with FOOTball? <
