Making that difference in Kentucky, scared or not…

When asked to write an entry about prayer and fuel, I was positive I wanted to write it, until I opened up my Microsoft Word and got a severe case of writer’s block. The absolute first thing to come to mind was the mission trip that about 25 Fuel leaders and students took to the Appalachian Mountains in Kentucky. This was my first mission trip, and I was scared out of my mind.

I guess I wasn’t looking at the big picture, I didn’t need to be scared of this new culture, I needed some EXCITEMENT in my soul. I prayed about it for about a week and a half, and the actual day we left, I started to lose some of my jitters and nerves. By the first day at the school with the kids, I was PUMPED.

I prayed for the group, too. I wanted us to all be just a united group of kids, who are out for ONE mission. Even though we were all serving different areas of need, we needed to be able to get together at the end of the day and say “Wow, look what God did here today.” The entire team wanted this unity, and I know I definitely felt it by the end of the week. I know we made a huge difference in Kentucky that week.
