Hold Your Horses
I guess I really am aging myself with this phrase, but that’s okay, because I enjoy the wisdom that comes with age! I can remember using this phrase numerous times growing up as well as with my two children, since we know just how impatient children can be, but… wait a minute, children certainly don’t have a monopoly when it comes to this personal struggle.
Despite my age, I still have a continuous problem with patience. And, from my many relationships with others I feel that other folks can certainly relate to impatience in their lives as well. How patient the Lord is with us though, as each day through His Word, He teaches us how to be patient with not only others, but ourselves as well. There are numerous verses in the bible that instruct and guide us on this( what seems to be illusive virtue), but my favorite is Psalm 37:7…"Be still before the Lord, and wait patiently for Him".
In this age of quick results we need to just rest in His "Word", and know that despite our shortcomings, God is the good shepherd, and wants His sheep to be still and not wander off into the "land of impatience".

Thanks Anita for the reminder to wait, breath, pray, be still, and listen. Your bio missed a small group we consider you a vital part of our group too. Love ya see you Sunday.
Anita, thanks for always being a source of wisdom for us young, “whippersnappers.” Patience is definitely a virtue and truly one that I think I will be working on the rest of my life. Thanks for the reminder.
Love ya!
Anita, you are absolutely right, Isaiah 40:31 says, those that wait upon the LORD will renew their strenght, to often, we as believers, do not understand this scriptual truth! In order to be patient, in order to wait upon Jehovah God. We have to totally surrender everything to God, there is no other way, praise God for today, and everyday! Amen.
Love linda.
Very beautiful thoughts, Anita. Hope you and family are all doing well. We continue to enjoy Trina and Abby, still visiting w/us. We feel very blessed to have them here w/us. Went to dinner w/family to Madeline’s Restaurant in Wilmington, after returning from the beach (and Salisbury, where we visited w/the Toner family). Everyone is so happy to see them; Abby is amazing (and, of course, so is Trina . . .). Dan continues to do well (they talked w/him via Skype on Sat. Maj and I will be making our plans soon for our flight to GA. Will check times out w/you. Dana, and Jess before booking . . . getting excited! Patience in all things . . . How is Jack’s wife doing?
Much love and blessings to all, always, J.
Hey Anita,
Thanks for sharing and for the reminder, that indeed we need to “Be still before the Lord, and wait patiently for Him”
It is in that stillness, that we learn to hear and it is also during those times, that He works in our lives, to bring the changes that are needed, that will help us to be patient.
I too, appreciate your wisdom and glad that you are part of Common Ground at the Rev!
Again, thank you for sharing from the heart!
Blessings and prayers,
Paul
