Something Creative and Witty about Worry
Some of you know that I recently graduated from college, and until just a few days ago had no idea what I was going to be doing after school, you know, when you become a real adult, and this unknown in my life had me slightly worried about what lay ahead.
Did I choose the right degree?
Can I find a job?
Am I going to have to move out of the best city ever, Atlanta?
Am I going to move to a different country?
Worst ever, am I going to have to move home?
I have to get health insurance?
Then I was reminded about the trump card I have in my life when it comes to worry, I know that the most powerful being that has always existed not only knows me, and created me, but he also cares about me. 1st Peter 5:7 "Cast all you anxiety on Him for He cares for you." So all those worries, I get to just throw on to my God because he is love and he loves me. This feels good, to shrug every worry you have off and just put them on someone else, but it only feels good when that someone is capable and trust worthy. I don’t know about you but if I were to put my worry of finding a job on to some of my friends then I think I would begin to worry more. Fortunately, God is unique in the fact he always comes though and he is 100% trustworthy.
One of my favorite Bible Stories is the Burning Bush in Exodus 3, and I think it illustrates the idea of casting your anxiety on God pretty well.
Check this out
Moses was clearly worried about going in front of the most powerful man in the world, Pharaoh, and telling him to let his free labor force to leave. But God comforts him and more importantly *SPOILER ALERT* he makes sure that Moses is successful in his efforts and his people are free!
This is how I dealt with that worry by knowing in our Bible that God has shown me already he can take care of the things I rely on him for and that I can cast my anxiety on him, it makes life more fun, and easier and I hope that next time you have something you worry about you’ll remember 1st Peter 5:7.
P.S. I said until just recently in the first paragraph, let me tell you what God has done with my worries. I just got a job offer from Coke in downtown Atlanta and I don’t have to move back in with my parents! Woo Hoo, not that I don’t love my parents! And if you haven’t seen The Prince of Egypt, I highly recommend it!

Thanks Chris…great words and a reminder that brings great comfort…trusting in an all-knowing, all-powerful God. Thanks too for all you do for CCC’s kids…we are blessed to have you…and I for one am glad to hear you’ll be staying in Atlanta. Congrats on graduating and for your new job. Take care, AK’s Daddy
Thank Chris for the reminder and words of wisdom. I pray that you will keep this attitude all the days of your life.
Thanks Chris! Kristin here, probably coming up as my hubby Chuck though. Thank you for such a great reminder. God is so loving, and so capable and wants us to rely on Him and no one else. Sometimes I forget, and I just need to rest in Him. So glad you are staying in Atlanta!!!! Take care, Kristin
