Pray for the people you love!
Today is a very special day. Today is my wife’s birthday!
Now, I am smart enough NOT to tell you what year she was born (so don’t even ask). I am also smart enough to know that Mary Anthony is the best thing that ever happened to me!!!
There is nothing greater than love. There is no greater love than JESUS CHRIST! There is no better example of loving, than the way CHRIST loved the church.
I love this verse because it challenges me to love my wife perfectly. This is something that I know I cannot do, but it something I can continue to pursue. One way to do this is to constantly pray for her. Today, I invite you to join in my prayer of thanksgiving for my wife….
GOD, I lift up my precious wife to You today….
I thank You for the incredible beauty You have given her both inside and out….thank You that she is patient and kind….thank You for the amazing wife and mother she is….thank You for her self-denying and self-sacrificing spirit….thank You for her unwavering faith in You….thank You for her spiritual intelligence….thank You for the way she sees people as You see them….thank You for her ability to be affectionate to me and our kids….thank You for the moral courage you have instilled in her….thank You for the willingness in her to seek Your face…thank You for her zeal and efficiency….thank You for her sound health….thank You for her sense of good judgment….that You for the incredible example she is to everyone who knows her….thank You that she is not given to gossip….thank You for her soft, sweet spirit….thank You that she is a person whom women can and will open their hearts to….thank You for her friendship and counsel….thank You for her loyalty….thank You for her playful disposition….thank You that she is a judicious mother and neighbor….thank You for the ability You have given her to go out of her way to love others….thank You that she is not jealous….thank You for her heart for the poor and the needy….thank You for her gift of hospitality….thank You that she is a great role model for my daughter….thank You for the definition she is giving my son on what a wife should be….thank You for her model of modesty….thank You for the counsel she provides me….thank You that she is not self seeking….thank You that she does not keep score….thank You that she is an eminently praying woman….thank You for the constant support she gives me….thank You that as a wife, a mother, a friend and in all her relationships – she is a true blessing….thank You for her faithfulness to me….thank You for putting her into my life….and thank You that when I look into her eyes, I see love – I see JESUS!!!
So Father, as I pray for my wife today, I think of the next verse in Ephesians (to make her holy, cleansing her by the washing with water through the Word). I pray today that she be Holy!!! Something she can only get from You. Father, fill her with You Spirit and Power and give her a special day today in the name of JESUS! Amen.
Good word Eddie. Happy birthday Mary Anthony! Any man that would say all this before God and the Internet is pretty incredible and makes it tough on us husbands.
How many wives crave love from husbands whose greater loves are their work, their friends, or their pastimes?
How many husbands want nothing more than respect from their wives who will trust “The View”, or revere a woman friend more than the man they married?
Our marriages are failing 50 per cent because we look in the wrong place for what we need most.
Eddie, awesome! Happy Birthday MA! Thanks guys for the living example you provide through your love for each other in your marriage and placing Christ first in that union. I am very blessed to be a part of the church body in which you both use your spiritual gifts to serve with such joy. I pray many blessings on your marriage, that it would be protected and that it would continue to serve as a great example for other couples.
what a beautiful portrait of marriage you have displayed! thank you for sharing and reminding us of the importance of praying for and being thankful for our spouses! and what better birthday gift than to be lifted up in prayer by your entire church community? i prayed for Mary Anthony, and hope she is blessed by the sweet presence of our Lord today!
I know this touched Mary Anthony’s heart in a big way, Eddie. Just goes to show that one of the greatest gifts we can give our loved ones is the knowledge that we pray blessings for them, not curses. Loved reading this today.
