Nothing To Say

Have you ever had one of those times when you just didn’t know what to say? You know, one of those days when things have gone so very poorly that when someone asks you how you are, you have nothing to say. Maybe you can squeeze out a smile and a brief head shake, but you just have no words.

Or perhaps you have found yourself on the other side of that conversation and when someone pours out their heart to you and your own heart gets so overwhelmed with their story that you verbally have nothing productive to give to them in return. It can be frustrating.

Have you ever found yourself with that cavernous void of words when you tried to talk to God? Have you ever been too beleaguered for language when you tried to pray or have a quiet time that you couldn’t think of how to even start your prayer?

I know that I have found myself in that place more than I care to remember.

Fortunately, when we find ourselves staring quietly into space before The Lord with not a words to utter, we have an advocate that knows what to say and He steps up to say it for us.
Romans 8:26-27 tell us that:
"In the same way, the Spirit helps us in our weakness. We do not know what we ought to pray for, but the Spirit himself intercedes for us with groans that words cannot express. And he who searches our hearts knows the mind of the Spirit, because the Spirit intercedes for the saints in accordance with God’s will."

So, when you find yourself in a position before God with no words, remember that you are not in a situation of desolation, you are positioned for potential. God hears what you don’t know what to say.
