Love is Active
The apostle Paul teaches us about love in these verses. This love is not only for our fellow brothers and sisters but for all people. The love Paul speaks of here is not mere emotion but is active love.
Paul wants us to be eager in our pursuit of CHRIST. He wants us to be intense in serving our LORD. He wants us to know the joy that comes from GOD’s promise of something far better than we can comprehend. To have patience as we experience setbacks and unmet expectations; to rely on Him when we experience persistent pain or distress.
Above all else, we need to be faithful in prayer. We need to be faithful in praying. We need to be faithful in knowing that GOD can answer prayer. We need to be faithful in asking others to intercede on our behalf.
I have been praying for the salvation of my family in Buffalo, NY for years. I have been faithful in believing that GOD can answer my prayers. My wife is praying for my siblings. My kids are praying for their aunts and uncles. Our friends are praying for them.
There have been so many setbacks. There have been so many disappointments. There has been so many times that we have thought that one (or more) is ready to make the decision for themselves, only to have something come up and change the circumstances. It would be so easy for us to just give up, but that’s not what love is….that’s not what Paul is teaching us in these verses.
So far, one of them (there are six total) has acknowledged their need for a Savior. This has made it all worth it!! This is enough to keep us going. We know our GOD is able to do far more than we could ever ask.
We will not lack in zeal! We will keep our intensity! We will rely on the SPIRIT for power! We will continue to serve! We will have joy in our hope! We will exercise patience in our pain and distress! We will continue to pray in faith!
Will you join me in praying for them?

Thanks for the encouragement to fervantly pray for my lost family. Some times out of sight out of mind helps me deal with the heart ache that they have rejected my Lord and savior. Even worse have filled the void in their lives with worldly things. I lift my brothers to you Lord to work in their lives today.
Yes, I will pray for your family. Please pray for mine.

I just wanted us all to read this one more time. Thanks Eddie for your encouragement and your life of faith that keeps me going.
Thank you for this encouragement to keep praying for our family members. Sometimes it is easier to pray for people you don’t know. My husband and I are also from Buffalo, NY.
