He’s Got Our Back
I spent last Sunday morning running through the streets of Atlanta with 16,000 of my closest friends. I was participating in the ING Half Marathon. It is quite a spectacle to see that many people up that early to run that far. Another amazing part of the event are the spectators that come out to cheer the runners on. I have to admit it truly helps. When the adrenaline of the start has worn off; when the legs begin to feel heavy and worn down. That’s when an encouraging word really does wonders. Even a total stranger screaming, “You can do it!” can spur you on for another little while. The cheers certainly sustained me through the last part of the race. It’s always comforting to know there is someone in our corner; someone who wants the best for us. At times I have to remind myself that ultimately Jesus is that someone. He is our supporter, especially when we go to our Father in prayer. He is the one who really has my back. He’s the one who has my best interests in mind. When I take time to stop and think of Him in that way is when I also remember He is my comfort as well. It’s nice to have people cheering for you at times. But it’s best to have Jesus as my advocate.

Ben you are an inspiration and all those that ran. It is wonderful to have your backed covered and that happens through prayer not the asking part but the listening part. Listening for the Father’s word of encouragement to go the next mile.He is always on our side but sometimes we are too busy to see him.
Ben I applaud you for your running. I don’t get it but you go for it. I do often look at life like that race There is the world who watches.. There are brothers and sisters who sit on the side and encourage the runners. There are the speedy starters who burn out. The distance runners that pace themselves. The weekend warriors who only run for a while. I could probably go on and on discribing those in our church. But back to the verse. Sin happens. So what is my response, the response of those close to me, the response of my church, and Jesus’s response? I am grateful that Jesus is on my side because when I stand before God and He asks why should I let you into my heaven I can resond Jesus paid it all I am covered by the blood of Jesus. I have Jesus as my advocate. Praise the Lord for forgivness of sins.
