Change of Prayer Scenery
Ruts are easy to get into. I like to run the same trail on Fridays. I have one coffee shop where I like to sit and work and a different one where I like to go to sit and read. I have one "place" where I usually meet the same friends. Its always Daily Grind with Nick, Starbucks with Bob, Silver Comet with Clint, the office with Jen….. you get the point.
Sometimes though, it is good to shake things up. A change of scenery changes perspectives.
Have you considered praying in a different way? What if today, instead of sitting down at the table and doing a routine quiet time, you invited God to go for a walk with you? What if you spent some time worshiping the Creator for and in His creation? Or what if instead, you wrote a poem from the depths of your soul to The One who gave you that soul, like David did in scripture? What if you created a space where things could be…. different?
When you change your perspective, God can show you new things & that is where growth occurs.
I asked God for a new perspective today and now I am sitting here watching a barrage of enormous snowflakes blanket my back yard. There is this tiny bird hiding under the roof of our bird feeder, trying to hide from the frozen, white onslaught. It reminded me of Luke 12:6, which reminded me that in the middle of my crazy fast paced life, God pays attention and I am important. –My prayers have now been changed for the day.
Glad I moved to the window seat for some God time today. Haven’t been here in a while. The change of scenery was great.

So does that mean we should go somewhere OTHER THAN J. Christopher’s for b’fast next week?! Thanks for these words my friend…for making me stop and think differently today. I’m pondering taking a walk with God right now in this Atlanta blizzard, I’ll let you know what He has to say. “I appreciate cha…”, who you are, what you do for CCC…for AK, your family, and your friendship.- Doug
;I agree 100%. Ruts equal rutty prayers. I would even suggest a mission trip to expand your workd view. Walking a mile in your brothers and sisters shoes who are from a different continent opens your heart to lots of new prayer. Thank you Todd for your dedication to our churches future, our children.
Hey Todd! Thanks! You’re right…as a wise friend once told me, there’s a fine line between a groove and a rut
. It’s great insight, and fun to try something different and see how God surprises us in the little (and big) things!
