An Incomparable Track Record
Everyone has "valley" experiences that they will never forget. I have experienced a few dark nights of the soul where I poured out my heart to God in utter desperation. I was in deep trouble. And God literally saved me from myself and my "life messes." He has protected me from potential worst-case scenarios that I could have easily seen.
Many of those troubles were directly caused by my own disobedience and sin. But He didn’t let me suffer what I could have. He delivered me again and again, and kept extending His grace…and along with that, a fresh start.
One would think that those moments of anguish and subsequent gratitude would be permanently etched in my brain. Well, they are, to a degree. But I’m astounded by how quickly I forget when I am dissatisfied with the timeliness of His answers to far less intense prayers. I tire, and give up so easily. It’s pretty pathetic.
I’m thinking about keeping a journal that is simply filled with reminders of the "what could have beens" from which God has saved me. Then, when I get frustrated, whiny or apathetic about prayer and begin to doubt His care, His abilities, or His activity, I could simply look back and see what He’s already proven. He has been and still IS faithful. He has been and still IS powerful. He has been and still IS gracious and compassionate. And, while He should never have to prove that to me, the Creator of the Universe has deigned to show Himself in huge ways to simple, ordinary me.
I take great comfort in verse 7 — "Be at rest once more, O my soul, for the LORD has been good to you." May I remember His track record, and pray accordingly.

Thank you for the beautiful reminder, Megan.
Megan as I finished reading your third paragraph the word JOURNAL came to mind and then in your next paragraph there it is JOURNAL. So I would say your thoughts are confirmed. It would be great for all of us to journal I made a new commitment to it in January and I just finished my 30th day of my new journal. Go for it so you never forget God’s lessons to you and His faithfulness.
You speak the Truth!!!
