Looking Forward
America….home of the brave…the free….Direct TV, Starbucks, R rated movies, hyped entertainment, fat cat bankers (direct presidential quote), and over paid athletes. Seems everyone wants to grab their piece of the pie. Worse yet, seems everyone might be going back for seconds. The poor economy has helped, in a strange way to force us to slightly curb our binges, but deep down inside we are true and blue Americans.
We are told in Jude that there is a time of reckoning, and day of “paying the bill”, a time of retribution. I think some play their life like a card game, hoping they don’t get caught with the wrong card at the wrong time. I don’t think it really works that way. Notice how the word “All” is used over and over. (“convict all…., all of the harsh words….all the ungodly”)The Bible is great about all encompassing statements that leave little room for doubt. I know this is all heavy stuff, but we just have to quit walking the line, and playing games with our faith.
What can we do? Persevere, fellowship, and look forward. The end of Jude provides us with encouragement and deeper conviction to strengthen our faith and save others…The fellowship thing…well I just pulled that from the New Testament, but it’s true, we are a body of believers who need to pull together (and eat together). The looking forward thing? If you are in a saved relationship with our maker, then you are forgiven so what’s the point of looking back? God wants us to live a full, robust life, but one that’s full of him and not the garbage of the world. Jude is the shortest book, but I believe it is the most potent book of the Bible. Give it a read; it will only take a minute.

Jeff thanks for sharing. I think we Americans have lived life without considering the consiquences. I am greatful for the comfort and understanding that I have been forgiven. I would say we need to look to the past not to feel guilty but to not repeat the past. Wise men say if you forget history you are doomed to repeat it. Praise the Lord for forgivness.
I am glad we don’t have to worry about the past and we can just press forward learning from our experiences! Our faith is in the One who controls it all-past, present, and future. Thank you for this reminder. I love you!
Congratulations! Alan finally asked to write an entry! Just kidding….great thoughts and really makes me want to get my act together”….thanks for sharing, Jeff!
