Peer Pressure
Pilate could find nothing wrong with the things Jesus was doing. Rather than taking a stand and ignoring the cries of the crowd to crucify Him, he bowed to peer pressure. How many times have we known an action was not the Christian way but we have done it anyway because everyone else was doing it or we didn’t want to be the loser in the crowd? We need to stand firm in our convictions and not listen to others. The only person we have to please is our heavenly Father and what others think is insignificant.

How many times have I fallen in my walk with Jesus when I looked to the side and paid attention not only to the jeers but more often to the cheers of the crowd. Most of the time I fall to my own imagination about what people think. We are wired to be social, and it is hard to stand alone in Faith. The secret is that we are not standing “alone” as long as we’re walking humbly with Jesus.
Thanks Ann for packing so much conviction into just a few powerful words. As a youth, trying to find my place in this world, I did a lot of following. Unfortunately, most of the people I followed were on the wrong road. Not until I discovered Jesus and stood strong for my beliefs did God begin to assure me that His road is the only road any of us need to travel. And fortunately, we can travel it together.
Pilate reminds me of our modern day politicians. He wouldn’t matter-of-factly take a stand for Jesus’ innocence, nor would he take a stand for his guilt. He road the fence and did the thing that would keep him in the good graces of the people.
The amazing thing is that the will of God could not be frustrated by the wishy-washiness of Pilate, the malicious intent of the crowd, the evil motives of the religious, the will and actions of Satan, OR my sin. What a Savior!
Lord, let us walk so closely with you that we can’t hear the voices of the ones who cry for us to be crucified.

Let us only hear your voice!
(Great job Ann…I’m so proud!
