Kingdom eyes…
I wonder what was going through the disciple’s minds during this meal. Did the disciples know this was the ‘last supper’? As Jesus said, “I will not drink again of the fruit of the vine…”, what were the disciples thinking or what were they saying? Try to put yourself there, around that table, what would you have thought or said (on that side of the cross and resurrection)?
During a Passover Seder the cup is passed around the table four different times – representing the deliverances promised in Exodus 6. As Jesus was passing the cup, were the disciples just going through the motions or did they realize this meal was different? Were they aware of what the next three days were going to hold?
For me, it is so easy to just jump into a routine and miss things that may be going on around me. Jesus was pointing them towards the coming Kingdom of God, but I don’t think they ‘got it’ (just yet). How many times, is Jesus pointing me towards the Kingdom of God and I don’t ‘get it’? I wish I had better ‘Kingdom’ eyes.
Lord, may your Kingdom come!

I wish I had better ‘Kingdom’ eyes! Your prayer is my prayer, not just for today but everyday. What a difference it would make.
