I don’t believe it!
“The Christian religion not only was at first attended with miracles, but even at this day cannot be believed by any reasonable person without one.” – David Hume
Did Jesus rise from the dead? Look at the evidence:
First, all scholars agree that Jesus was crucified, died, and was buried in the private tomb of Joseph of Arimathea. The earliest response to the resurrection of Jesus presupposes an empty tomb. Christianity could not have continued if there was a tomb containing the body of the crucified Jesus.
Second, the Apostle Paul points out in 1 Corinthians 15:6 that Jesus appeared to more than five hundred witnesses, most of whom were still alive at the time of Paul’s writing. Cambridge University scholar, C. H. Dodd explains, “There can hardly be any purpose in mentioning the fact that most of the five hundred are still alive, unless Paul is saying in effect, “The witnesses are there to be questioned.”
Third, what happened after the resurrection of Jesus has never occurred before in all of human history. It is possible to believe that the many followers of Jesus would be willing to face torture, destitution, and death for what they believed was true, it is not plausible for them to do so for something they knew was not true. Jesus did rise from the dead!
The Sadducees denied the miraculous. The Sadducees come to the one who called Himself in John 11:25 ” the resurrection and the life.” The Sadducees were eyewitnesses to the miracles that Jesus performed, but even then the Sadducees still chose not to believe.
How about you my friend? Are you like the Sadducees when confronted with the Truth of Jesus, do you choose not to believe? Jesus came into this world clothed in human flesh. He was crucified and died on a cross. He was buried in a tomb; three days later He rose from the dead. His death was the payment for sin. He died for you and me and for everyone that we might by faith in His finished work on that cross be made new. As He said, “He who believes in me will live, even though he dies; and whoever lives and believes in me will never die.” John 11:25 Jesus closes His statement with this question, “Do you believe this?” Well friend, do you?

i’m glad we both believe!!
you are awesome, Jim.
thanks for your friendship. it is cherished.

Jim, I find that my unbelief comes in the form of forgetfulness or lethargy. As a matter of fact, I do believe in the resurrection of Jesus. But as a matter of rubber-meets-the-road-resurrection-power-wielding-rise-up-from-the-wheelchair-and-be healed-RIGHT-NOW-by-the-authority-of-Jesus, I find that I am a practicing unbeliever.
Jesus, I believe. Help my unbelief.
Jim,
Resurrection? It’s not “rational,” but like Alan says, we need some mystery in our faith.
I’m like Jon when it comes to the rubber meeting the road, though.
I do believe in miracles. Jesus’ resurrection was one of ‘em!
Would I die for my belief? Only since I believe that I’m not really dying; only in this flesh.
