I was so worried when I volunteered for this that I wasn’t going to sound as smart or deep as everyone else. I might not know everything about the Bible, but I know God, and I know He will help me to explain this in the best possible way. Personally, this verse has helped me realize something going through high school; that being your own person, the person God created you to be, is the most important thing. People walk into high school or middle school and they end up loosing their uniqueness. They start acting and dressing like someone that they think is popular or is cool, and forget how long God spent making you exactly the way that you are. Sometimes I just want to smack them in the head and make them realize that God did not and never will make another person like them! So stop following everyone else, and show the world God through you.
God knows everything, more then you could ever be able to know, and He knows exactly what His plan is for you. You have to ignore what the world says you should do, or how you should act, or who you should be, and focus on just God. He will show you His will for you.
I think we get so distracted with life that we forget about listening to God. I have a challenge for you: When you go through your day at school, or at work, or what ever you do, do not get distracted by life or the world, but clear your mind of those things and listen to God.

What a great reminder and challenge. I so easily get caught up in the world especially during this time of layoffs, salary cuts, war, vast political changes, etc. But God knows all this, right? He planned it or allowed it to happen. He takes care of all the creatures on earth, why wouldn’t he take care of his beloved children?
The beauty of difficult times is that I will eventually run out of ways to do life on my own and will invite God in. When times are good, its easy for me to say, “alright God, I’ll take it from here.” Thankfully, He knows me, knows my stubborness and doesn’t hold a grudge.
God, thanks for loving me and all of is way more than we deserve.
Meredith,
You sound pretty smart to me!!! Very well written…I only wish I could’ve read truth like this while I was in middle and high school…and then had the courage live that way.
Thanks for sharing today, Meredith. I know God is proud that you are being the person He made you to be!
Thanks Meredith that was a hit in the face, but it is so true i wish everyone that was in my middle school could of read this then including me!
Wow Mar!!! What great insight….I think humans continually struggle with finding their identity in the world and not in God. Thanks for this reminder….
REMEMBER you are a leader and we NEED your wisdom to help those who are younger than you and who may not be as mature in their walks as you….You are such a great example of following God….will you continue to shine your light and continue to be a light via FUEL, even when it’s tough? We need you Meredith and we are so glad to have you in our lives….you’re very special and we treasure your sensitivity to God’s spirit!! Thanks again for leading.
texting… facebook… twitter… a gazillion cable channels… email…
no distractions here!!!
thanks for your encouragement, Meredith. Listening is the good-tough work of prayer. A non-distracted silence is the necessary venue for such listening.
blessings on YOU!

I love this verse. It is hard to know what God’s specific will for your life. I am thankful that He doesn’t leave us in the dark if we ask Him seek Him, renew our minds He will show us what is perfect for us. Meredith blessings to you this SENIOR year. It has been a pleasure watching you grow into the young woman God has created you to be.
Meredith! Wow, I could tell these words were right from your heart! I love that you challenged us to “clear your mind of those things and listen to God”. It’s been awesome to see your heart of service with Greece, with Must, and in so many other capacities. My prayer is that I will take your advice and LISTEN to God. Thanks for the encouragement and I am excited that you are a role model to the younger kids in Fuel.
Love ya!

Meredith! You are so right! Comparing ourselves to and trying to keep up with everyone else will only lead to heartache. God made us with everything we need to do what he planned for our lives. Stopping and listening will point us onto the path he intended. How cool that you get that at 17!! Thank you for the reminder. I’m so thankful for FUEL and the young people there.
Obviously it would be hard for me to keep emotional distance from my own daughter’s thoughts, were it not for the truth that Meredith lives by this verse. I have witnessed it. It is and has been God who has done a work in her, and its a testimony to the power of Romans 12:2.
Reading the blogs by the other teens this week, it’s really encouraging that they show such deep faith and insight at such an early age.
Meredith…thanks for the clear (and well written) reminder and challenge. It’s been a pleasure and honor to watch you over the years…your words and story inspire me. Thank you. As I considered further what you wrote I had to stop and pray that my daughters (AK and MY Meredith) would “get” the truth like you do and have the same confidence in Christ by the time that they are your age. (Bill, I couldn’t keep the “emotional distance” while reading this…I’m sure you’re an very proud Daddy…for good reason.) Thanks again Meredith.
Meredith…These are great insights. Thanks for sharing with us today.
I may be a little biased, but I think this has been a great week on Feed One Another…and we still have one more day left.
