How high is the sky??
My 6 year old daughter, Evelyn, came to me the other day, and asked me if I knew how high the sky was- and I wasn’t sure where she was going with this so I asked her to explain. She said she learned at school that the sky comes all the way down to the ground and is all around us all the time. She said, you think you look up at it but you are really looking through it- all the time.
That got me thinking. Sometimes I get so consumed with what is going on around me that I think God is somewhere up there and I have to go looking for him. As if he’s up beyond the sky of my circumstances or that the pains in my life are so intense or deep that God is somewhere on the other side of them, but, could it be that God is like the sky and is all around us all the time? Could it be that we don’t have to go looking for Him on the other side of the pain, or up beyond what is currently going on in our lives but that his love for us is so extreme that He is with us and around us all the time??
With the way the scripture is written, it is clear that there are things in this creation that will try to come between us and separate us from the love of God. And we all know that some things we go through in life are so difficult that is seems that we are going through them on our own or that God couldn’t possibly be with us in the middle of them. Life just gets hard some times. However, it’s clearly written that nothing can come between us and God’s love- like nothing can come between the sky and the ground. He is not beyond the circumstances, not on the other side of the pain, he is right there with us in the middle of it. There is nothing that he will ever allow to come between or get in the way of His love for us. His love is so extreme that it is with us all the time.

Thank you Jesus you are right here with me. Thank you that you love me enough to come down and live day by day breath by breath with me. Trina thank you for a great story to remind me that God isn’t at 30,000 feet, He is like the sky and comes down to surround me with His love.
The sky around me is invisible and God is invisible. Both are very real. I want to remember that and begin to feel the reality of His presence. How awesome!
Someone said (Oswald, Tozer, or one of those dead guys)… that God will not always give us overcoming life, but rather life to overcome. sometimes i feel that if i’m not conquering and victorious, then God just isn’t in the mix. BUT… He is the sky that is all around me all the t ime.
Thanks Trina …and your little Graham cracker. (is that PC?)
God, help me to see you next to me when circumstances seem to scream and negate this fact. Jesus, thanks for giving me life to overcome.
Could it be? Yes, it could!
Nice message today Trina, thanks for sharing.
Thank you Lord for surrounding me continuously throughout my day and for being the air I breathe.
Thanks for this great analogy, Trina. It is such a great reminder to think of God being in, around, and throughout, rather than “somewhere out there…” And nothing can separate us from His love!
