What did he just say?
“chaH DIchDaq qIp ghaH ‘ej HoH ghaH ‘ej Daq wej jajmey ghaH DIchDaq Hu’ je.”
I bet you never thought you’d see the words of Christ in translated into Klingon. I have a feeling, though, that the disciples must have felt the same way you just did trying to read the first line (except for the true Trekkies out there). Jesus just laid out the last few days of His life here on earth as plainly as possible, but they just didn’t get it. Maybe it was because they had heard several parables just before and where trying to find some profound meaning hidden deep in his words. Or maybe they were just dumbfounded by the fact that their teacher just informed them he was going to suffer much ridicule before being killed.
I also think that their reaction was the result of something that many suffer from sometimes: being so focused on one idea that I forget there are two sides to every equation. The Yin and the yang. Good and bad. East side and west side. Chocolate and vanilla. (ok-I’m done.) We forget that the way to the kingdom is narrow and difficult. This was true even for Jesus and the disciples just couldn’t see past the miracles and wonder that is the Son of God and remember that the entire picture of Jesus had been prophesied. The good, the bad, and the painful. (gotcha there).
I guess what I’m trying to say through all this muck of text is listen intently and remember that God is God, beginning to end and will hold us through our pain and suffering even if we don’t understand why. So, “live long and prosper.”
Just in case you don’t speak Klingon.
They will scourge Him and kill Him. And the third day He will rise again.

Cute opening I did read all the way through and was greatful you translated. I feel that way about life sometimes. That I need a translator. this passage helps me to remember that there are things I don’t see and don’t understand that happen. I at that time can choose to trust God at His word. “He Works all things together for good” I love God enough to trust His plan even when I don’t understand.
great reminder that we are so small and He is so big, His plan always out ranks ours and a lot of times, we just don’t get it! (and we aren’t supposed to)
Ray…you are hilarious. Thanks for the chuckle this morning, even when talking truth!
Ray…you are idol bound….and I got such a kick out of your entry!!! However, on a serious note, I appreciate your perspective. I can relate with being lopsided in my faith at times, only seeing one side of the coin and forgetting to “remember that the entire picture of Jesus had been prophesied.”
