Love is a Verb
My personal take on this verse is that Love is so powerful. In our busy lives, we forget that Love is a verb, such as to think about loving people with kindness or treating others with lovingly gentleness.
With love in your heart and using love as a verb towards everyone throughout each day, imagine the effect on the World. I see people like that at CCC and just in awe.

Thank you Dale, you reminded me of the saying my mom used in our house. Love is an action word. She would say this after she did something for us, or when we were reluctant about doing an action that might express love to others.
It also reminds me of the DC Talk song. “Old school”!!!
God has definitely been showing me how important it is to love. This concept is extremely easy for me with my family and friends, but not so easy for strangers. Thankfully God is patient, and I am trying. So today, I will try to make love a verb.
Love is powerful. For God so loved the world He gave His only begotten Son. Thank you Lord for loving us so we can actively love others.
simple word. simple message. so hard to live out. only through the character and love of Christ within me (and dying to myself) can I REALLY love.
I think the Sabbath principle is so important for me to try to love. I can move so fast through my days and weeks, that I’m skimming my relationships. Slowing down or stopping to soak in the love of God, helps me to love others better than I do.
thanks, Dale
Love has many meaning for many people but it really is a verb. This is the best deifinition I could find for love.
unselfish loyal and benevolent concern for the good of another: as (1): the fatherly concern of God for humankind (2): brotherly concern for others b: a person’s adoration of God
Do we always act in love. Do we want others to act in love towards us. For me, I don’t always show it but I certainly want it. I adore what God has done for me and when I put him in the center of my life, everything I do comes from that love. Sometimes all it takes is a touch on a shoulder, a warm embrace, a prayer for someone else.
Don’t just have love in your heart, express it, act on it, and spread it around.
Thanks Dale. These verses help me the most to make love a verb in my life.
4Love is patient, love is kind. It does not envy, it does not boast, it is not proud. 5It is not rude, it is not self-seeking, it is not easily angered, it keeps no record of wrongs. 6Love does not delight in evil but rejoices with the truth. 7It always protects, always trusts, always hopes, always perseveres.
8Love never fails. But where there are prophecies, they will cease; where there are tongues, they will be stilled; where there is knowledge, it will pass away. 9For we know in part and we prophesy in part, 10but when perfection comes, the imperfect disappears. 11When I was a child, I talked like a child, I thought like a child, I reasoned like a child. When I became a man, I put childish ways behind me. 12Now we see but a poor reflection as in a mirror; then we shall see face to face. Now I know in part; then I shall know fully, even as I am fully known.
13And now these three remain: faith, hope and love. But the greatest of these is love.
Thanks Dale! It was an awesome reminder that love is active and not passive
Its easy for me to get caught up in the busyness of life and forgot to stop and go deep in relationships and really love people as Christ did. Thanks for the encouraging thoughts.
Love is not love
Which alters when it alteration finds,
Or bends with the remover to remove:
O no! it is an ever-fixed mark
That looks on tempests and is never shaken;
It is the star to every wandering bark,
Whose worth’s unknown, although his height be taken.
Love alters not with his brief hours and weeks,
But bears it out even to the edge of doom.
. William Shakespeare
Dale, thank you for reminding us that love is a verb; the ultimate expression of that verb is found in what Jesus did for us…Romans 5:8 But God demonstrates His own love for us in this: While we were still sinners, Christ died for us. – NIV
