Royally Redeemed
Moses’ younger brother, Aaron, was one of God’s high priests. That was the only reason that he was able to go behind the curtain of the temple into the Most Holy Place to offer sacrifices to God. This was the place where the Lord God Jehovah symbolically dwelt. No one, other than a high priest was able to go behind this curtain. God sent a message to Aaron reminding him that even the high priest couldn’t go behind the curtain anytime he chose, only once a year on the Day of Atonement. The really thick and heavy curtain served as barrier between God and His people. Matthew 27:51 reveals to us that “at that moment (when Jesus died) the curtain of the temple was torn in two from top to bottom.” Did you catch that the curtain was torn from top to bottom? God is the one who tore the curtain of the temple, forever destroying that barrier between Himself and His people.
In the Old Testament, the high priest had closer contact with God than any other person. In 1 Peter 2:5 and 9, we discover that Christians are today’s royal priesthood. “What? We’re part of the royal priesthood?” That’s right, we are! Wait just a minute; I’m a woman, so that must not apply to me…only men can be part of the priesthood, right? For all of my sisters in Christ out there, here’s some more good news – “There is neither Jew nor Greek, slave nor free, male nor female, for you are all one in Christ Jesus.” (Galatians 3:28) It is only because of Christ and only through Christ that we have access to God. (Romans 5:1-2, Ephesians 2:18)
I am so thankful that God has chosen this as the time for me to live and serve him. I cherish being able to go before His throne anytime of any day or night and speaking directly to Him.

Thanks, *Priestess* Lea Anne.
I love that the veil was ripped from top to bottom…again showing our absolute poverty in salvation. We present our bodies a living and holy sacrifice for God’s special use. (Rom. 12:1-2) Even when Abraham entered into Covenant with God, he merely provided the sacrifice and then God put him to sleep (just in case there was any doubt that this was all God, and not dependant upon man’s obedience!). As believers we offer God sacrifice when we allow Him full reign of our lives…whether in tithes, talent, time..or just worship. We are living sacrifices. Our lives are constantly to be an offering of glory to Him. I just read John Piper’s devotional which said “God is most glorified in us when we are most satisfied in Him”. Royally blessed!!
Baptism was a requirement for the priests. While it is commanded for believers, salvation is what brings us into God’s Throne room – being washed in the Blood of the Lamb, and baptised into Christ by His Spirit. (Gal. 3:27; 1 Cor. 12:13; Rom. 6:3)
