It Doesn’t Matter Which One

My first thought is … wow how depressing.  It’s all about death and sin, nothing that most of us like to think or talk about.  So after a few days to read, reread and read again… I started to notice some key words to me in this scripture “all men” and “all sinned”.  It doesn’t specify which sin or which sinners.  It doesn’t say anything about those sins that most of us “church goers” consider the “bad ones.”  It just says ALL.  It makes me wonder how many times I have categorized sins… or people for that matter.  This verse reminds me that God isn’t as interested in which sin… it really isn’t even a question of which sin.  It’s sin, plain and simple.  My job is to recognize when God identifies MY sins and turn from them.

I am also hugely reminded of how my sin effects others.  my responsibility to my husband…. how my little girl will see mine.. how my students notice them… how my friends watch me (especially those that don’t know Christ… yet).  Of course these people love me, they won’t point out my sins.  But how great my responsibility is to them as I am a Christian and that name carries a huge weight and I should not take that lightly.  After all, sin brings death and I don’t want any of those that I love to see death in me.  Thankfully, if we read on, there is Life through Christ.  And I have to remember THAT is what I want to show.  Life in Christ is what I want to represent.
