Peace Beyond Description
When I was 29 years old, I was diagnosed with cancer (Hodgkin’s Disease). Coincidentally, the diagnosis came two months after I got baptized. Because I was afraid of the side affects associated with Chemotherapy and Radiation I chose alternative methods to treat the cancer. Unfortunately, finances did not allow me to continue with that form of treatment and I eventually had to have conventional treatment.
The change of plan occurred when I discovered that the tumor had doubled in size and spread to other areas of my body. Now I was at risk of dying and was given a low chance for survival by the Doctors.
My treatment subsequently included eight months of chemotherapy, three weeks of radiation and a bone marrow transplant. Today I am cancer free. Just as Jesus performed miracles for others in the stories of the Bible, he did the same for me in more ways than one.
One and half years later, I found myself in a wheelchair due to a side affect from the radiation. From the time of my diagnosis through to my paralysis, I have been at peace beyond description with everything. It is something that I cannot understand or explain fully, but I just know that God is able to perform miracles and give us things in abundance today, just as he did for the disciples when he filled their nets abundantly with fish.
